4 Ways to Change a Pet's Life on January 24th
On Sunday, January 24th, we celebrate Change a Pet’s Life Day! This day was created to honor the incredible work of animal welfare organizations and encourage people to adopt. Those of us who are lucky enough to have a furry friend of our own know that dogs forever change our lives when they become part of our families. Let’s all reflect on what we can do to return the favor and make a meaningful change in a dog’s life on Sunday — whether for our own, a shelter dog, or, better yet, both.
1. Give a Dog a Forever Home
This is your sign to take the leap if you’ve been on the fence about adopting a dog. Not only will you change a dog’s life, your life will change for the better, too, with a new best friend.
Coming from a team full of loving, enthusiastic dog parents, we can assure you that you won’t regret welcoming a furry companion into your home.
2. Sponsor a Dog
If now isn’t the right time for you to adopt, sponsoring a dog is another great way to make a powerful impact. Many shelters and rescue organizations will allow you to sponsor a dog of your choosing, typically meaning you cover the ongoing costs of care or the adoption fee. Check out the Sponsor a Pet Program to find a dog to sponsor.
3. Donate to Your Local Shelter
Shelters cost lots of money to operate and the majority are non-profits. Donations ensure dogs are able to continue receiving the proper care to stay happy and healthy.
Special shoutout to one of our partners and next-door neighbor, Spot’s Last Stop, a dog rescue organization based in Minneapolis. Since opening in 2015, Spot’s Last Stop has saved and re-homed hundreds of dogs and relies on dog lovers like yourself to continue helping as many as possible.
4. Introduce Positive Changes into Your Dog's Life
Maybe it’s taking your pup out for more walks, switching to higher-quality food, or simply some extra tummy rubs. There are so many ways to give our dogs the extra love and attention they deserve and deepen the bond we share with them.
THANK YOU to all of the workers and volunteers at animal welfare organizations that help improve dogs’ lives day in and day out!
